Yes. It is one of the more robust, forgiving crypts, growing in low to moderate light without CO2 and tolerating a wide range of water conditions. Give it a nutrient-rich substrate and a root tab and it is nearly hands-off, making it a great pick for beginners.

Crypt melt is normal. After planting or a change in conditions the older leaves can dissolve while the roots stay healthy. Do not remove it. Leave it planted and it will regrow fresh leaves from the roots within a few weeks.

It is a root feeder, so it does best in a nutrient-rich substrate with root tabs to feed the roots. CO2 is not required and it grows well without it, though adding CO2 with more light will speed growth and give larger, fuller leaves.

Its broad, heart-shaped leaves make it a great midground plant, and in smaller tanks it can even anchor the background. Plant it with a little space around it so the leaves can spread, and over time it forms a full, leafy clump.

Bury the roots in the substrate but keep the crown, where the leaves meet the roots, just above the soil so it does not rot. Slip a root tab nearby, then leave it undisturbed. It settles in and grows fastest when it is not moved around.
