Echinodorus muricatus is a classic sword with attractive, translucent medium-green leaves and prominent veins. Develops impressive wide leaf rosettes. Fast-growing and hardy, perfect for filling background areas.

Care Requirements

Very easy - excellent beginner plant. Tolerates wide conditions without CO2. Heavy root feeder requiring nutrient-rich substrate or root tabs.

Placement & Planting

Background or centerpiece for large tanks (30+ gallons). Grows wide rosettes needing space. Popular for discus and angelfish tanks - fish spawn on large leaves.

Parameters

Quite fast for a sword plant - can add new leaves weekly in good conditions. May need regular trimming of older outer leaves.

Pests & Algae

I do have snails in my tank.I do my best to pick off what I see. Duckweed have invaded a few tanks but most plants will be free of duckweed. Older leaves may have a bit of algae but I typically clean up all plants before shipping.
