Lagenandra keralensis is a rare and distinctive plant from India, related to Cryptocoryne but with unique character. Features textured, broad leaves adding exotic appeal. Slow-growing but rewarding.

 

Care Requirements

More demanding than most crypts. Requires stable, established conditions. Benefits from nutrient-rich substrate and CO2. Like crypts, dislikes being moved.

 

Placement & Planting

Best as midground specimen or focal point. Plant in substrate - heavy root feeder. Unique texture draws attention. Grows relatively large.

  • Related but different genus. Lagenandra are generally larger with broader leaves and different flower structure than Cryptocoryne.

Pests & Algae

I do have snails in my tank.I do my best to pick off what I see. Duckweed have invaded a few tanks but most plants will be free of duckweed. Older leaves may have a bit of algae but I typically clean up all plants before shipping.
