Pennywort Brazilian Var. 'Variegated'

Yes, it is one of the easiest aquarium plants you can grow. It thrives in low to high light, does not need CO2, and grows quickly, so it is a great choice for beginners and low-tech tanks. Give it decent light and regular fertilizer and it takes care of itself.

Both work well. Planted in the substrate it grows upright and can be trained up the background or across the midground. Left floating it grows even faster, trailing its roots and shading the tank below. Many aquarists do a mix of both.

The cream and white marbling shows best under bright light. In strong light the variegated pattern stays crisp and colorful, while in low light the leaves lean greener. Good lighting and regular iron dosing keep the variegation at its most striking.

Trim and pinch the tops regularly and replant the cuttings. Each cut stem branches out, so frequent trimming keeps the plant dense and full rather than long and leggy. Because it grows fast, plan to prune it every week or two.

Planted, it works best in the background or midground where its round leaves and bright variegation stand out. It also makes an excellent floating plant. Give it room to spread and trim it back so it does not overtake slower-growing plants.
