Yes. Anubias Golden is one of the easier aquarium plants to keep. It does well in low to moderate light, needs no CO2, and is not fussy about water parameters. The one rule that matters is to never bury the rhizome, since that causes it to rot. Attach it to wood or rock, or rest it on the substrate surface, and it will take care of itself.

No. Anubias Golden grows fine without CO2, just more slowly and with slightly smaller leaves. Adding CO2 and fertilizer speeds up growth, deepens the gold coloration, and makes it flower more often. Either way it stays a hardy, low-maintenance plant.

Use super glue gel or cotton thread to fix the rhizome to wood or stone. Never bury the rhizome, since burying it causes rot. If you use glue, hold the plant in place for 30 to 60 seconds. Within a few weeks the roots anchor on their own and the glue or thread is no longer needed.

The gold color comes from reduced chlorophyll, so lighting drives it. In low light the plant makes more chlorophyll to compensate and greens up. A little more light, without going intense, helps it hold the gold, and new leaves usually emerge with the best color. Some greening on older leaves is normal.

Anubias Golden is a rarer, gold-green cultivar of Anubias barteri. It shares the same easy care and growth habit as the standard green Anubias Barteri, it is just slower growing and far more eye-catching. Many aquascapers plant the two side by side, since the warm gold really pops against the deep green of regular barteri.
