Red Flame

It is a hardy sword plant that most hobbyists can grow, and it does not strictly need CO2. To bring out its signature red and copper coloration, though, it does best with strong light, added CO2, and a nutrient-rich substrate with root tabs. In low light it stays greener with less red.

Give it strong light, dose CO2, and keep nutrients up with a rich substrate and root tabs. Higher light and good iron and micronutrient levels push the reds, pinks, and coppers. The newest leaves show the most color, so healthy steady growth keeps a fresh flush of red at the top.

Use it as a midground or background centerpiece where its colorful leaves stand out and it has room to grow. It becomes a large rosette, so keep it off the front glass. Bury only the roots and keep the crown above the substrate so it does not rot.

It is a large sword plant that commonly reaches about 12 to 16 inches tall and can spread a foot or more wide once established. Because of its size it is best suited to medium and large aquariums where it can fill out as a colorful centerpiece.

You will receive a healthy large potted or bare root plant with an established crown and several leaves. Color varies with how it was grown, so some plants arrive greener and color up to red as they settle in under good light. A few outer leaves may show minor shipping wear, and fresh growth comes in with the best color.
