Anubias Nancon
Anubias Nancon is a fantastic hybrid developed by aquarist Bob Gasser, crossing Anubias barteri 'Nana' with Anubias afzelii 'Congensis.' This cultivar combines the best traits of both parents: the compact growth habit of Nana with the elegant, elongated pointed leaves of Congensis. The result is a manageable yet impressive plant with dark green, spade-shaped leaves reaching about 4 inches. Extremely hardy and adaptable, it thrives in a wide range of water parameters.
Care Requirements
Care is identical to other Anubias - one of the easiest aquarium plants available. Thrives in low to moderate lighting; avoid intense light which promotes algae growth on slow-growing leaves. No CO2 required, though it can slightly enhance growth. Adapts to wide range of water parameters. Most herbivorous fish ignore the tough leaves, though some wood-eating Panaque plecos may occasionally nibble.
Placement & Planting
Best in midground or background. Attach to driftwood or rocks using super glue gel or thread - do not bury the rhizome in substrate or it will rot. Only the white roots should be buried if planting near substrate. Also suitable for terrariums, paludariums, and emersed setups. Compact growth makes it versatile for tanks of all sizes.
