Cuphea Anagalloidea

No reviews

Cuphea anagalloidea is a delicate stem plant originally known as 'Rotala sp. Araguaia.' Endemic to Brazil, it's the first Cuphea in aquariums. Under strong light, upper leaf surfaces develop brilliant scarlet to orange-red while stems remain green.

Care Requirements

Demanding - for experienced hobbyists. Requires high lighting, CO2 injection, and consistent nutrients. Prefers soft, slightly acidic water. Grows strictly vertical.

Placement & Planting

Best in midground groups as dramatic color accent. Plant multiple stems together. Brilliant coloration contrasts beautifully against green plants.

Parameters

Temperature: 68-79°F | pH: 4.5-7.5 | Lighting: High | CO2: Required | Growth: Medium | Difficulty: Intermediate-Advanced

  • Needs high light intensity. Without strong lighting, stays green. Ensure adequate CO2 and nutrients for best coloration.

Pests & Algae

I do have snails in my tank.I do my best to pick off what I see. Duckweed have invaded a few tanks but most plants will be free of duckweed. Older leaves may have a bit of algae but I typically clean up all plants before shipping.
