Red Nose Shrimp
The Red Nose Shrimp (Caridina gracilirostris), also known as the Red Nosed Shrimp or Pinocchio Shrimp, is a fascinating freshwater invertebrate that adds both beauty and functionality to your aquarium. Named for its distinctive elongated red rostrum, this peaceful shrimp species is an excellent choice for community tanks.
These hardworking invertebrates are exceptional algae grazers and biofilm feeders, making them valuable members of any aquarium cleanup crew. Growing to approximately 1.5 inches, Red Nose Shrimp are larger than many dwarf shrimp species and are easier to observe as they forage throughout your tank.
Native to Southeast Asia, Red Nose Shrimp thrive in well-established aquariums with stable water parameters. They prefer temperatures between 72-82°F and slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.5-7.5). These shrimp are social creatures that do best in groups of 6 or more, where you'll observe their natural schooling behavior.
